Born in Church in 1870, James (known as Jimmy) was a talented footballer who kicked off his career at Accrington Stanley (1890-1893). In 1893, Jimmy was signed by Blackburn Rovers, where he earned a hefty salary of 60 shillings a week – a significant sum back in those days!

Jimmy's talents didn't go unnoticed. He even earned two caps playing for England against Wales and Ireland! His career continued at Manchester City in 1897.

Mrs. Greenwood brought in Jimmy's caps, football badges, photos, and even the actual Blackburn Rovers contract to share with Years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. It was incredible to see these pieces of history and thanks to Jimmy's impressive career, we can proudly say that the St. Aidan's family has a special link to the England team!

Thank you so much, Mrs. Greenwood, for sharing this fascinating story about your Great Grandad with us all!
