At St. Aidan's, there are various leadership roles that pupils can take on in a school. These roles include:

  • Head boy and Head Girl- Our Head boy and head girl are role models for younger pupils. They show leadership by setting a good example, helping others, and taking responsibility for their actions. They may also help with tasks like running assemblies or mentoring younger pupils. Their role is to help make the school a positive and welcoming place for everyone. They also help adults around school and welcome visitors with a tour of the school if required.
  • Deputy Head boy and Deputy Head Girl- Our Deputy head boy and deputy head girl are important helpers in primary school. They support the head boy and head girl, and step up when needed. They are also role models for other pupils, showing how to be responsible and kind. They might help with tasks like looking after younger pupils, or helping to organise events. Their role is to support the head boy and head girl in making the school a happy and safe place for everyone.
  • School council- ALWAYS teams- All pupils are on our school council in their ALWAYS teams and are important members of the school community. All pupils have the chance to have their voices heard, share ideas and concerns to help make the school a better place for everyone. They take part in discussions, help to make decisions, and work on projects to improve school life such as recently improving dinner times.
  • Play leaders (Sports crew)- Our play leaders have been trained by our sports mentor to support their peers in the playground with playing, resolving conflict and developing friendship skills. Sports crew also help to set up our ALWAYS play everyday.
  • Digital leaders- Deputy Head boy and Deputy Head girl- our digital leaders teach others about staying safe online. Their role is to support and guide others in using technology safely and effectively, and to promote responsible digital citizenship.
  • Library leaders- our library leaders help keep the library tidy and organised, recommend books to their friends, and even help run events like book clubs or author visits. They also help younger pupils find the books they need at lunch time and encourage everyone to develop a love of reading. Their role is to promote our library and visits to our local library as a welcoming space and to inspire a passion for books and reading throughout the school.
