Studying Geography at our school helps students appreciate and respect the variety of cultures and ways of life across our amazing planet. Children will come to understand that God's teachings are universal, able to accompany them wherever they may go. By learning to cherish the Earth and recognising the harm it faces, they will also learn to respect all living creatures and God's creation through self-reflection.
Our Geography Curriculum -
- The foundation of our curriculum lies in following the National Curriculum.
- The curriculum is designed in a way that progresses systematically, building upon knowledge and skills at each stage and across different key stages.
- This program is created with the intention of being inclusive for all students, regardless of their gender, abilities, socio-economic backgrounds, cultural backgrounds, or religious beliefs.
- Make sure that children remember what they learn by providing excellent instruction on a wide range of vocabulary, and by connecting it to other subjects in a meaningful way.
- Our curriculum has been tailored to cater to the unique requirements of our pupils, guaranteeing that their learning is relevant and connected to their everyday lives. We place a great emphasis on exploring the important physical and human features of our local community.
- The children will enhance their understanding of important places around the world, both on land and at sea. They will learn about the physical and human features of these places and compare them to our own local area.
- Children will learn about the processes that create important physical and human geographical features around the world, why these features are located where they are, how they rely on each other, and how they evolve over time.
- Enhance children's ability to understand and analyse various geographical resources like maps, diagrams, globes, aerial photographs, and Geographical Information Systems (GIS), which will help them develop their geographical skills.
- Children will have the opportunity to engage in fieldwork activities that will help them better grasp geographical processes.
- Children will enhance their knowledge about environmental problems in their local community and around the globe, which includes learning about the influence of human actions on the planet and how they can contribute positively as individuals.
- Enhances children's comprehension of environmental issues at local and global levels, highlighting the effects of human actions on our planet and empowering individuals to make a difference. Additionally, it equips them with essential knowledge and skills to pave the way for their future learning, fostering cognitive abilities like independence, creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making.
- It fosters an atmosphere of anticipation and a passion for love of learning.
